Unexplained infertility is a term used when a couple is unable to conceive despite having a normal semen analysis, normal hormone tests for the woman, and a normal medicated uterine X-ray (HSG). This condition is observed in approximately 10% of infertile couples. In these cases, if the woman is under the age of 35, there is a high probability of achieving pregnancy through a sequential approach of ovulation induction, intrauterine insemination (IUI), and In Vitro Fertilization (IVF) treatments.
If the woman is over the age of 35, it is more appropriate to prefer methods with higher pregnancy success rates, such as IVF treatments. Time lost with other treatments may lead to further advancement of maternal age and a subsequent decrease in the chances of pregnancy.
