Egg retrieval is a procedure performed under anesthesia without pain or discomfort. It is a short surgical intervention lasting approximately 10–15 minutes and should not be considered a major operation. It is performed in a sterile environment and in the gynecological position. After resting for about two hours following the procedure, it is appropriate to go home, and hospitalization is not required.

Since egg retrieval is performed using a needle, there is a risk of intra-abdominal bleeding or injury to surrounding tissues such as the bladder and intestines. However, when performed by an experienced physician, this risk is very low.
