The medications used in IVF treatment are generally hormone-based drugs aimed at stimulating the ovaries. These pills or injections are used to ensure controlled ovarian stimulation. Treatment may be carried out using oral medications containing clomiphene citrate or letrozole, or injectable hormones such as FSH, LH, and HMG.
The method of administration and dosage of these medications are determined individually. Once the eggs reach a certain size, a so-called “trigger injection” is administered to support final maturation.
All injections used during treatment are applied subcutaneously in the abdominal area, allowing patients to manage their own treatment at home.
Additionally, folic acid supplements, progesterone-containing suppositories or injections after embryo transfer, antibiotics, and sometimes blood-thinning medications may also be included in the treatment protocol.
